Terms of Use
Last updated 26 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and neopats when you use our website and app. Please read them; they explain how circles work, what we expect of members, and what you can expect of us.
The short version
- neopats is a private community. You join by invitation, and new circles are set up by us after we review a request.
- Be honest, be kind, and respect other members’ privacy.
- What members share is their own experience, not professional advice. Check anything important for yourself.
- neopats is free to use. Contributions are voluntary.
- You can leave at any time.
1. About these terms
neopats is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (“neopats”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using neopats, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use neopats.
2. Who can join
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You need an invitation from a member of a circle, and approval to join it, or an approved request to start a new circle.
- Each circle is for people who live in, or have a home in, that place. The home location you give us must be genuine.
- One account per person. Your account is personal: don’t share it or let someone else use it.
- Give accurate information about yourself, and keep it up to date.
3. Circles and hosts
Anyone can ask us to set up a circle for a town, island or neighbourhood. We review every request and may approve or decline it at our discretion. When we approve a request, we create the circle and make the person who asked its host.
Hosts (and any admins they appoint with our agreement) invite and approve members, look after the circle’s settings and help keep it a good place to be. Hosts are members, not employees or representatives of neopats, and must follow these terms like everyone else. We may change a circle’s host or admins, merge circles, or close a circle if it’s inactive or isn’t meeting these terms.
Some decisions belong to members. For example, members can vote to close their circle to new members, under the voting rules shown in the app.
4. Invitations and vouching
When you invite someone, you’re vouching for them to the rest of your circle. Only invite people you know and trust. If people you invite repeatedly break these terms, we may limit your ability to invite others.
5. Community rules
To keep neopats trustworthy, you agree not to:
- harass, threaten, bully or intimidate anyone, or post hateful or discriminatory content;
- post anything false or misleading, including fake recommendations or reviews;
- recommend your own business, or that of a relative or business partner, without saying so;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent where you live or own a home;
- share other people’s personal information without their permission, including information from outside the app;
- use contact details shared through a connection for anything other than personal contact with that member, for example for marketing or adding them to lists;
- copy, scrape or share circle content outside the circle in a way that exposes members;
- post spam, advertising or unsolicited sales messages, except where neopats provides a place for them;
- post anything illegal, or that infringes someone else’s rights, such as copyright;
- try to find out another member’s exact home location, or whether they’re at home or away;
- interfere with the service, test its security without our permission, or create accounts by automated means.
6. What you post
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting it, you give neopats a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and share it with the members of the circle (and, for tips you share more widely, with members of the wider region or country), and to use it as needed to run and improve the service.
Tips are shared knowledge: other members may suggest edits to them, and the best answers to questions may be turned into tips. If you leave a circle or delete your account, your posts stay in the circle, shown as “Former member”, so the circle doesn’t lose its shared knowledge. If you want a specific post removed, you can delete it yourself or ask us.
You’re responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
7. Recommendations, tips and news are not professional advice
Everything on neopats, including tips, answers, recommendations, prices and news summaries, reflects members’ own experiences or summaries of public sources. It isn’t legal, tax, financial, medical or other professional advice, and it may be out of date. Always check anything important with the relevant authority or a qualified professional.
Tradespeople and businesses listed on neopats are independent. We don’t check, endorse or guarantee them, and any arrangement you make with them is between you and them. Flags such as pricing indicators are members’ opinions.
News summaries are written automatically from public sources and always link to the original. They may contain errors; the original source is the authority.
8. Cost, contributions and future paid features
neopats is currently free to use, and we don’t show ads. At the end of each year, members who find neopats useful may choose to make a voluntary contribution to help keep it running. Contributions are gifts: they are optional, don’t buy any feature or status, and are not refundable unless the law requires otherwise.
In future we may offer optional paid features, or a separate area for advertising that members can opt out of. We’ll tell you before introducing anything like this, and any paid feature will have its own clear price and terms. We won’t let businesses pay to appear in, or to rank higher in, members’ recommendations.
9. Reporting and moderation
You can report content or members from within the app. Reports are confidential: the person reported isn’t told who reported them. We and circle hosts may review content, remove anything that breaks these terms, and warn, suspend or remove members. In serious or urgent cases, we may act without warning. If you think we’ve made a mistake, email us and we’ll look again.
If you’re in danger, contact the emergency services (112 in the EU) first.
10. Leaving and ending your account
You can leave a circle or delete your account at any time in the app, under More → Your data and membership. Hosts must hand over to another admin before leaving their own circle.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we’re required to by law, or if we stop offering neopats. Where we can, we’ll give you notice and a chance to download your data.
11. Our service
We work hard to keep neopats available, accurate and secure, but we provide it “as is”. We may change, add or remove features as the service develops, and it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, neopats is not responsible for what members post, for the services of businesses recommended in the app, or for decisions you make based on content in neopats. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us, if anything, in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as neopats grows. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can leave before then; if you keep using neopats, the new terms apply.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [COUNTRY OF GOVERNING LAW]. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
